A Modernized Ministry
The Ministry in an effort to effectively deliver on its madate, is pursuing a modernization programme which will result in an organizational transformation that will reposition it. The Modernization Programme embodies the following:
- The strengthening of the structure of the staffing of the MNS to give it the capacity to improve its performance in the key areas that are listed by hte Modernization Plan;
- Recruiting, retaining and training staff so that their capabilities match the requirements of the modernized MNS agenda;
- Focusing on strategic performance indicators, the data capture and responding to analyses;
- Developing an evidence based comprehensive policy making/implementation/review process to include the departments, agencies and related minsitries;
- Strengthening the research capacity to support longer term developments in policies;
- Putting in place formal strucutred relationships with key ministries and agencies to secure collaborative working;
- Improving the MNS capability to select priorities and agree feasible work programmes that should be challenging but affordable and achievable;
- Delivering improved working conditions and equipment to support greater productivity from staff and;
- Building an effective communications programme to inform and engage staff, other bodies and the public in the fight against crime and the creation of a more secure environment.
